New Masjid Complex

Islamic Center of Kent (ICK) began its mission to acquire a place to perform Islamic Sharia’h activities and dawa’h services from a small rented house in 1997. Alhamdulillah, since then ICK has expanded its activities over the years. ICK has acquired about 2.25 acres of land with two buildings that have been make-shifted for Masjid activities and another building (8,720 sft) is being converted into a state licensed Childhood Learning Center (Pre-school and elementary). These make shifted masjid buildings have an official capacity of about 200 Musullees, though more than 400 faithful brothers and sisters come for Jumah every week and Taraweeh prayers during Ramadan. Often many Musullees are forced to pray outside under rain, snow, and extreme weather. Since we purchased the house and converted it to a Masjid, lots of families have moved in and around ICK, knowing that this Masjid would, Insha’Allah, offer them a place to worship and help them raise their children in an Islamic environment.

Considering the growing needs of the community, ICK has undertaken a project to build a new multi-purpose Masjid complex including a state licensed Elementary School (Islamic Pre-school plus up to elementary grade-5) to serve all Islamic activities for many years to come. The City of Kent has approved the site development plan for the new multi-purpose Masjid complex in April 2014. Alhamdulillah, here are the milestones we achieved  and the future plan for the project:
